Hispanic Annual Salute highlights outstanding adult and student volunteers throughout Colorado each year. Community leaders come together to select individual winners. Monetary awards of $500 are given to a charity of the adult honorees' choice and $2000 college scholarships are awarded to student recipients. HAS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created in 1980 by the late M.L. "Sam" Sandos. Proceeds from this event will help continue the only organized statewide effort to recognize Hispanic community service leaders.

A Letter from the President

Since its inception in 1980, the Hispanic Annual Salute (HAS) continually promotes and encourages volunteerism among Hispanics through secondary education.

Its founder, the late M.L. "Sam" Sandos, had the vision to reward the tireless efforts of volunteers that seek to improve Hispanic neighborhoods. To this day, The Sandos Family still sings the song of unsung heroes. HAS is an all-volunteer organization that honors outstanding adult and student volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to “give back” to their community. Hence, the annual HAS dinner still carries out its long-standing tradition in the Denver community.

HAS, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, teams up with other Hispanic leaders to annually select individual winners. Monetary awards of $500 are given to a charity of the adult honorees' choice and $2,000 college scholarships are awarded to student recipients. Your contributions provide funding for student scholarships and the dinner in their honor. In the last two years, Hispanic Annual Salute has awarded 24 $2,500 scholarships and six $8,000 scholarships.

The 2008 Hispanic Annual Salute Awards Dinner will be held Saturday evening, February 16, 2008 at the Denver Grand Hyatt, Downtown Denver.

Your contributions and support at the annual dinner are critical to many young Coloradoans. It is important to maintain a strong Hispanic presence within colleges and universities that ultimately leads to active community leadership and volunteerism.

The HAS Board of Directors realize that there are several meaningful events that deserve your resources, and we are honored that you are considering HAS as one of them. We look forward to working together with you to ensure a strong Hispanic community in Colorado for many generations yet to come.

Sincerely,

Dan Sandos
President
